Jazz Combo
the GDYO Jazz Combo is made up of 5 – 7 members who are high school seniors or younger. With a focus on improvisation this ensemble is for the student looking to focus on jazz in their future.
Students should have strong facility on their instrument, a good knowledge of scales and chords and the ability to improvise melodies.
Instruments accepted are: Saxophone (Alto, Tenor, or Bari), Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Vibraphone, Bass (upright encouraged), and Drum set.
Under the direction of Dr. Alex Fraile, the Jazz Combo performs three concerts annually, plus several smaller “run out” style performances for various events, including the Denton Arts and Jazz festival.
