Charilyne Rojas, Young Performers Orchestra Conductor

Charilyne Rojas has served as the Young Performers Orchestra conductor and GDYO Communications Director since 2021. She is also an active musician, clinician, and adjudicator in the DFW area. A GDYO alumna herself with a lifelong passion for music and teaching, Ms. Rojas earned her BM in Music Education from the University of North Texas where she taught in the UNT String Project before building an award-winning school orchestra program. She has also served in TMEA leadership and managed other local professional ensembles.

In addition to serving on GDYO’s artistic team, Ms. Rojas also directs alumni activities and social media (follow us @greaterdallasyo!) She has led several new initiatives including the first virtual Summer Strings Camp for Dallas ISD in 2021, the first Jam Session bringing together both GDYO and other local students, senior home service projects, and our free tickets for teachers program.

Ms. Rojas’ diverse experiences as a musician, educator, arts administrator, and nonprofit consultant have shaped her musical philosophy and holistic teaching approach. Her student-led organization – Concerts for a Cause – helps students share music through community performances, and she is proud to serve on the boards of Friends of WRR and KERA’s Community Advisory Board. Along with all things strings and education, Ms. Rojas loves supporting organizations dedicated to STEAM, music therapy, and arts advocacy/accessibility.
