Jeremy Kondrat, Wind Symphony Conductor
Jeremy Kondrat has been the conductor of the GDYO Wind Symphony since 2019. He currently serves as the Coordinator of Instrumental Music in the Plano ISD.
Mr. Kondrat began teaching jazz techniques at Southern Methodist University in 2018. Since 2015, he has been a frequent guest conductor and fanfare conductor for the Dallas Winds. He has led the McKinney Community Band as artistic director and conductor since 2016 and conducted the Imperial Brass since 2011.
Mr. Kondrat previously served fourteen years as the Director of Bands, Co-Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble Director at Plano Senior High School. He was the Associate Director of Bands at Plano SHS for two years and served one year positions as Director of Bands at McKinney High School and Associate Director of Bands at Cudahy High School in Cudahy, Wisconsin.
The Plano Senior High School Wind Ensemble was awarded the National Wind Band Honor Award in 2009 under Mr. Kondrat’s direction. He co-conducted the Plano SHS Symphony Orchestra at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in 2007, 2009, 2012, 2014 and at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in 2003. The Plano SHS Jazz Ensemble directed by Mr. Kondrat was invited to perform at Lincoln Center at the Essentially Ellington Jazz Band Festival and Competition in 2005 and 2010. Plano SHS was awarded the Grammy Signature School Gold Award twice while Mr. Kondrat served as Director of Bands.
Mr. Kondrat received a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and trombone performance from the Eastman School of Music in 1995. He earned a Master of Music degree in trombone performance from the University of Northern Colorado in 1997. Mr. Kondrat is an active clinician, conductor, adjudicator, and consultant for band, orchestra, and jazz ensembles throughout the United States. He has also performed extensively as a trombonist with the Dallas Winds.
Mr. Kondrat is married to his amazing wife, April, who grew up as a violist in the GDYO. They live in Plano, Texas with their three wonderful children Emily, Rachel, and Ethan.
